To give you a better idea of what iAmbigram does, here are a few screen shots of the program in action, taken from an Apple iPhone 3G:
When you first launch iAmbigram, the Intro Screen appears to display a brief overview of the program as well as the spinning iAmbigram logo.
Once in the program, you can use the iAmbigram Designer to create your ambigram design. You can select from one of the “Suggestions” or create your own new ambigram. It’s up to you.
Let’s start with the “Suggestions” button. If you click that button on the Designer screen, you will first be shown several categories of designs.
After selecting a category (for instance, “Positive Messages”), you will see a list of generic (non-personal) designs to view for that category.
Of course, those designs are only suggestions. You can also make your own, and it couldn’t be easier to do. You just type one or two words into the iAmbigram Designer, and click the green “Flip” button…
…and your ambigram design will instantly appear below.
Using just a finger swipe, you can spin the design to its upside-down orientation. Here is the same design after it has been inverted.
Once you have created and accepted your design, there are a whole list of things you can do with it (screen shot taken from the full version of iAmbigram. Some options may not be available in iAmbigramLE).
I won’t go into every one of those actions, as some of them as self-explanatory. However, I’ll show what the “Get Wallpaper” and “Browse Product Catalog” actions do.
“Get Wallpaper” allows you to set your ambigram design as your iPhone or iPod Touch wallpaper. The best way to present your design is to have it displayed against a cool background. “Get Wallpaper” allows you to choose that background.
After selecting that action, your web browser will open, and present a list of thumbnail images of your design against several different background.
You can see that the “Michael / Michelle” ambigram is already in the thumbnail images. If you select the “Vintage Sunburst” thumbnail, you will be presented with the full-size image, sized precisely for your device, ready for display as your wallpaper.
Setting the image as the background of the application works similarly.
Within the application, you can easily switch the background image, and even shuffle through your ambigrams if you have more than one.
Again, you can spin the ambigram with a finger swipe, or by tilting your device. The faster you swipe, the faster the ambigram will spin. With two different names in your ambigram, you could easily make this into the easiest drinking game on Earth.
Here is the same ambigram on the Scroll background.
And again on the Deep Space background:
As fun as it is to play with your ambigram on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you can also take your ambigram into the real world by going into the Product Store. When you click on “Browse Product Catalog” (not available on iAmbigramLE), you will be presented with a list of thumbnails for different categories of items.
Once you pick a category, you will be presented with a list of items for that category. For instance, if you went into “Gift Ideas” and then “Birthday”, you might see something like the following:
When you select an item, you will see the details of that item, the price, and will even be able to spin the item live right inside the iAmbigram program.
The product itself can be spun with a finger swipe.
Checking out will open your web browser for payment. All orders sent through iAmbigram get an automatic 10% discount over the web-direct prices! So, you will actually be getting a better price than the one you see in the program (and the one you would see on the web). If you use iAmbigram to order, you won’t need to do anything else to get your discount.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of the screen shots. The program has features not covered here, but this should give you a good idea of how the application works.
